Luca came from an abusive home and was surrendered to a shelter after being punched right in front of staff. Shut down, heartbroken, and days away from euthanasia, Luca had almost no hope until a foster stepped in and saw the kind, loving dog beneath the fear.
Since then, Luca has made incredible progress. He is still a bit cautious with new people, especially men, but once he trusts you, his sweet, goofy, and loyal personality shines through. Patience is key with Luca, but the reward is a deeply devoted companion who just wants to feel safe and loved.

Luca would thrive in a calm, quiet environment with patient people who can give him the time and space he needs to feel secure. He tends to be more trusting of women and enjoys the company of other friendly dogs. He is also cat friendly.
